We’ll use the latest techniques including a variety of safe and gentle treatment options, to give you the customized, individual care that you deserve.

Every smile starts with a complimentary consultation where you will have the opportunity to meet our orthodontist, Dr. Ford, meet the team, learn more about orthodontics, receive a complete initial exam, and find out whether you or your child would benefit from orthodontic treatment.

During your complimentary consultation, Dr. Ford will:

  • Review your dental and medical history forms.
  • Provide a complete oral exam, with X-rays, to determine if treatment is necessary.
  • Determine if treatment is indicated at this time or if we should continue to observe your child as they develop.
  • Help create a customized treatment plan for you.
  • Discuss all financial information, insurance options, and affordable payment options.
  • We will explain everything that you will need to know about your orthodontic treatment, so that you can choose what’s best for you – no strings attached.

The Right Age

To Start Orthodontics

The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that children first visit an orthodontist around the age of seven; at this time Dr. Ford can identify any growth issues and make plans to address them or monitor progress over the coming months or years. Whenever possible, Dr. Ford prefers to treat orthodontic problems with a single phase of treatment once all or most of the baby teeth have been lost and the permanent teeth are erupted enough for braces. This approach allows treatment to be started at a time that provides the best result in the least amount of time while reducing the overall cost and inconvenience of two-phase treatments. When appropriate early treatment is accomplished to address teasing at school, and to avoid permanent tooth extractions and growth issues that might require a more complex solutions if treated later.

If we find that it’s in your child’s best interest to wait for treatment, he or she will be placed in our Growth and Development program where we provide no cost monitoring visits until they are ready. You can feel confident that Dr. Ford will always do what is best for you or your child and the treatment prescribed will always honor the trust that you’ve placed in the team at Advantage Orthodontics.
